Happy Beltane 2017; an Astrological Perspective

Union of the Earth and Sky bringing a New Earth

On May Day Eve we celebrate the union of the Earth (the divine female) and the Sky (the divine male) with rites of fertility and fire/passion.

Beltane, in the northern hemisphere, marks the beginning of summer. A time when the sun kisses the Earth and brings fecundity, heat, passion and life.

This is the union of the God/Goddess.

Beltane is a Fire Festival. The word ‘Beltane’ originates from the Celtic God ‘Bel’, meaning ‘the bright one’ and the Gaelic word ‘teine’ meaning fire. Together they make ‘Bright Fire’, or ‘Goodly Fire’ and traditionally bonfires were lit to honour the Sun and encourage the support of Bel and the Sun’s light to nurture the emerging future harvest and protect the community. Bel had to be won over through human effort. Traditionally all fires in the community were put out and a special fire was kindled for Beltane. “This was the Tein-eigen, the need fire. People jumped the fire to purify, cleanse and to bring fertility. Couples jumped the fire together to pledge themselves to each other. Cattle and other animals were driven through the smoke as a protection from disease and to bring fertility. Let’s take a look at the astrology for Beltane 2017.

The May Pole that has been used by many cultures on Beltane is said to represent The World Axis, or axis mundi, which expresses a point of connection between sky and earth where the four compass directions meet.

The point of creation.

The May Pole is also a Phallic symbol, the pole, with the Circle from which the ribbons hang, being the female Vagina. If you have never danced the May Pole you will know that the females usually dance and gradually wind the ribbon around the pole. The female combining her energy with the male to create a whole?

Because without the divine female AND male in all that is there is no creation.

The union of male/female, sky/earth, and the four directions/elements is necessary for life to bloom, in all its forms.

But we know that the divine female has not been valued equally to the divine male for centuries.

That is about to change.

Venus/Isis/Eve is sitting exactly on the world axis (0° Aries/Libra) on this Beltane. A new start. New life. In fire 🔥 (Aries). Burning away the old and creating the new.

The World Axis is the Venus/Mars, Aries/Libra, I/We line.

How does the ‘I am’ fit in the ‘we are’?

Look at images for Axis Mundi and you find images of the Male/female and nature merged together.

It’s SO significant that Venus sits at this point on this Beltane as she emerges as the warrior, morning star Venus after her retrograde.

Ceres, the great Mother, sits at 0° Gemini, bringing new conversations about healing the earth.

You can’t make this shit up. THIS is the energy of this Beltane.

The divine female rises.

And both Venus and Ceres aspect the nodal axis at 0° Virgo/Pisces. Practical mysticism. Grounding spirit in matter. The divine female qualities of love, peace, compassion and service.

0 is the Alpha (beginning) and Omega (the highest) as there is no beginning and no end; all is infinite. The ancients proclaimed that the ‘God force’ is a circle whose centre is everywhere and its circumference is nowhere. Zero is the symbol of ‘nothingness’ and denotes freedom from limitations in this material world. Zero is the number of the ‘God’ force and Universal Energies and reinforces, amplifies and magnifies the vibrations of the numbers it appears with. The number zero encompasses the attributes of all other numbers, and brings one closer to the ‘God force’ or ‘Source’. Number zero resonates with the vibrations and energies of eternity, infinity, oneness, wholeness, continuing cycles and flow, and the beginning point. Number 0 stands for potential and/or choice, and when this number presents and recurs it is a message to do with developing one’s spiritual aspects as zero is considered to represent the beginning of a spiritual journey and highlights the uncertainties that may entail.
