Happy Samhain/Halloween.

Not only is today Samhain (pronounced Sah-win), the midpoint between the Fall equinox and the winter solstice, when the veil is thin between the sides physical and spirit worlds, but we also reach the crossroads between the Oct 25 Solar Eclipse and the Nov 8 Blood Red Moon with a first quarter Moon at 8° Aquarius 49’.

We are at a crossroads in time and as I contemplated this day I wondered what asteroid Hekate, the goddess of crossroads, magic, and spells was up to. Astoundingly she stations retrograde at 11° Cancer 50’ just 16 minutes before the first quarter Moon tonight.

With the Moon in the future-oriented sign of Aquarius square to the composting depths of the Scorpio party in this Eclipse season, Hecate, the torch bearer, is helping us to see the way forward in all of the chaos. Today she stands at the number 11 — the number of illumination and enlightenment. In the sign of Cancer, the sign of birth, nurturing, empathy, and the mothering instinct in us all.
